Our extraordinary loving husband and Father MSG (Ret.) Claude Wayne Burnett, age 74, left for his final tour of duty on February 2, 2019. He is also survived by his 3 siblings John Burnett, Arthur Burnett, and Lou Ann Bankston and a host of nieces and nephews.
Claude graduated from Oakland Technical High School, class of 1963 in Oakland, California. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army where he became a veteran of the Vietnam War earning many decorated medals, accommodations, ribbons and awards. Which include; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Non Commission Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Good Conduct Medal (6), Overseas Service Bars (2) and a host of other accolades. During his 22 years of dedicated service he held many senior positions including serving as a 1SG. MSG Burnett retired October 31, 1985.
Soon after his retirement Claude started his second career with the State of Washington’s Department of Corrections Washington Center for Women as a Correctional Officer. He worked until his retirement in 2005.
After his lifelong career and dedicated service he enjoyed relaxing at home with his wife and being with family. He spent every day with the love of his life of over fifty years enjoying their daily hobbies of playing bingo and watching Claude’s favorite westerns. Other hobbies included fishing, grilling and entertaining friends and family.
My dearest husband, I still say I love you, but now there’s no reply. I always feel your presence as if you never left my side.
You will always be in my heart,
