Obituary for Loretta Jane Abel

Loretta Abel was born March 14, 1947 in Minot, North Dakota. Her parents Minnie and George Bossert raised their family on a farm in Karlsruhe, ND. She married her childhood sweetheart Nick Abel on December 28, 1963. They shared 54 years of marriage and raised 4 children and welcomed 10 grandchildren. For the last 13 months Loretta searched for a cure and fought a battle with cancer. She handled the fight with grace and strength to the end. She never wanted to be remembered as a woman with an illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on a beautiful sunny day in her home on September 19, 2018 at the age of 71.

Loretta was a ray of sunshine to so many. She was a devoted wife, friend, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her strength, wisdom, unconditional love, and her ability to forgive others who may have spoken in haste. She would listen closely but hesitated to provide her opinion or advice. She helped us walk through our own lives making our own choices. She fearlessly supported her family and encouraged all of us to dream big, follow our hearts and find happiness.

Loretta loved nature and animals, and gardening, especially her roses. She enjoyed walking on the beach, travel and most of all spending time with her family. Hawaii and Cannon Beach, Oregon were two of her favorite places to visit. Over the years she was creative, enjoying crafts, sewing, quilting and needle work. She ran a successful construction company with her husband Nick and they often became lifelong friends with the families they created homes for. Loretta took fantastic care of herself claiming exercise would fix anything or at least make it more tolerable.

She was an inspiration to many. Those lucky enough to experience Loretta’s cooking and baked goods knew she was fantastic in the kitchen and loved to share family recipes passed down through generations. Making homemade noodles with several grandchildren at the counter was something she treasured. She passed on her many skills and passions to her family and friends.

Loretta is survived by her husband Nick, her children Rhonda Gallucci, Kimberly Clark, Brian Abel and Brad Abel. Grandchildren are Monica Gallucci, Nicholas Gallucci, Gabrielle Gallucci, Abigail Clark, Wyatt Clark, Dylan Abel, Madeleine Abel, Annabella Abel, Gavin Abel and Jack Abel. Her siblings are Ron Bossert, Dennis Bossert, Shirley Hartford, Arnie Bossert and Annette Bossert.

A funeral mass will be held in honor of Loretta at All Saints Parish, Puyallup, WA on October 6th at 1 pm with a reception following in the parish hall.

She was an angel shared with us, loved babies and the innocence of children whom were drawn to her. We will never forget her, nor will we be alone as she will always be with us in our hearts waiting with open arms to welcome us to our final home.
