Obituary for Michael Phillip McCaffree

Mike McCaffree
(February 06, 1956 - April 2, 2018)
______________________________________________________________________

Mike McCaffree was born February 6th, 1956 at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine and went home to be with the Lord on April 02, 2018, in Lakewood, Washington. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Nan, daughter, Katherine, and mother, Joan.

Mike grew up in Texas and the Spokane area and graduated from Eastern Washington University after receiving an Army R.O.T.C Scholarship with a BA in Radio and Television Management. He received a MS in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College in 2005 and a MA in Theological Studies from Faith Evangelical College in 2012.

He served a total of 34 years in the US Army Infantry as an officer in service to the nation. He was a mature leader and broadly experienced at the local, state, and federal levels. He retired from the Army in 2008 as a colonel.

Over his lifetime he worked and volunteered in many fields including county emergency management, search and rescue, HAZMAT and weapons of mass destruction response, communications and electronics, anti-terrorism and law enforcement, and safety and health. He was a great humanitarian personally and professionally.

Mike’s family meant the world to him and after retiring from the military, he enjoyed traveling with them. He also enjoyed serving the community by teaching a weekly Bible study and serving free meals to the homeless. Mike’s dream was to have a mobile breakfast ministry and to travel and minister to others. He loved meeting people and wanted to help them wherever he went.

In his last 2 years, Mike fought a hard battle with cancer. He fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith. There is a crown of righteousness which the Lord will award to him on that Day (2 Timothy 4:7-8). He lived a meaningful life and is now completely healed and in the presence of his loving Lord, the One that gave His life for him. He is victorious!

The Memorial Service of his life will be held on Thursday, April 12th, 2018 from 10:30am to 12:30 pm at: Lakeview Chapel 4606 108th St. SW Lakewood, Washington 98499. A graveside service will follow beginning at 2:00pm at Hill Crest Burial Park 1005 Reiten Rd. Kent, WA 98030.
