Obituary for Raul Laguna-Pedraza

On Thursday December 6, 2018 Staff Sergeant, Raul Laguna-Pedraza passed away from Esophageal Cancer at the age of 66.

Raul was born on March 30, 1952 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Alejandro Laguna Alverio and Maria Esther Pedraza Ruiz. He enlisted in the United States Armed Forces in 1978 where he served 27 years. On December 31, 1979 he married Sarai Hernandez. They raised two sons Jaime and Alexander and their daughter Claribel. In 1990 he began serving in the United States Postal Service where he retired from in 2011.

Raul had a passion for his faith and enjoyed sharing his testimony to those he came in contact throughout his life’s journey. He loved telling stories, dancing, his music and sports. He was a lucky man at Bingo as those who knew him it was his favorite past time. Other favorite hobbies of his were bowling, cooking and fishing. He was known for his wonderful warm heart and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Raul was preceded in death by his father Alejandro, his mother Maria, his son Alexander. He is survived by his wife, his two children, his grandchildren; Jaida, Riley, Amaiya, Lilliahna, Jimmy and Michael, his brother Julio and his sister Ilia and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a funeral service held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Tahoma National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
