Obituary for Sharon Ann Steen

Sharon was born in Estherville, Iowa May 24, 1936 to Charles and Hazel Wylder, and succumbed to lung cancer April 11, 2018.

She was an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a loving an caring friend.

She graduated from Lincoln High School and worked for an architectural firm for many years.

Sharon was very active in her church, having served as a Stephen Minister, worked on many annual bazaars, helped design the Church Memorial Garden, and was involved in the decor of a sanctuary remodel.

She led an active life and enjoyed many trips to the Oregon coast, and an Alaskan cruise. She was very proud of her adventurous eight mile hike in to the Grand Canyon.

Sharon was faith driven and family and friends were important to her. She especially enjoyed her time with great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles, she is survived by her husband of sixty years, Earl, daughter Stacy (Walt) Horn, son Jeffrey Steen, brother James Wylder, sister in law Margaret Wylder-Lopes, grandsons Nathan (Maryann) Gunderson, Cameron (Breanne) Horn, granddaughter Kassandra Horn, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The support and love she received from the loyal friends of her book club brought her strength in her last months. She referred to them as her angels.

A special thanks to all who supported her and her family through this difficult time, especially her caring Franciscan Hospice Team (Julianna, Jenny, Rhonda, and James).

A life celebration is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on May 3rd at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 6730 N. 17th St., Tacoma, WA.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Franciscan Hospice.
